Pantone Colour of 2020… Classic Blue

It’s the start of a new era, a new decade in fact and with the new year we welcome Pantone’s Colour of 2020: Classic Blue!

There was much debate about the anticipated colour choice, but now that it is released it makes a lot of sense. We at Candana predict blue to be a huge trend in the coming years- we’re seeing an influx of cobalt, Yves Klein and similar shades already and think this hue is a perfect example of the coming trend.

“A timeless and enduring blue hue, PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue is elegant in its simplicity. Suggestive of the sky at dusk, the reassuring qualities of the thought-provoking PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue highlight our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era.

Imprinted in our psyches as a restful color, PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue brings a sense of peace and tranquility to the human spirit, offering refuge. Aiding concentration and bringing laser like clarity, PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue re-centers our thoughts. A reflective blue tone, Classic Blue fosters resilience.

As technology continues to race ahead of the human ability to process it all, it is easy to understand why we gravitate to colors that are honest and offer the promise of protection. Non-aggressive and easily relatable, the trusted PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue lends itself to relaxed interaction. Associated with the return of another day, this universal favorite is comfortably embraced.” -Pantone Color Institute

I mean, what could be more perfect in bathrooms than the colour of water itself? As with last year’s Living Coral, we think this  colour choice by Pantone is particularly suitable to bathrooms and wet areas. There is a beautiful range of blue tiles and stone in the market currently and pairing these with brass or nickel trapware will provide a much needed warmth to the cool tone.

And for the brave, our classic Vola range is available in a stunning blue which can be injected into a bathroom, kitchen or laundry space to provide a pop of colour.

We see big things for Classic Blue, not only for 2020 but for the coming years.
