Hans Frost with Kaety & Marc in front of the new copper range
After spending 3 great days with VOLA, we took a 45min train ride through Denmark’s beautiful country side to visit FROST.
Candana have been supplying Frost since 2009, when Kaety spotted their stand at Designex Melbourne. During this time, Frost has become one of our most popular accessories manufacturer and one of, if not the most innovative & creative accessory ranges we’ve stocked.
From art-inspired Camouflage hooks to elegant Wishbone hall stands and tables, they’ve been a favourite of our customers and our staff for years. So it was with great excitement that we were greeted at the train station by Hans Frost himself.
As we’ve found with most Danish people, Hans is the most hospitable and friendly person you could ever hope to meet. On the drive to their headquarters he gave us a quick history of the company and we noticed how similar their values are to our very own Candana.
We were able to meet with all the staff (including the lovely Anette who we deal with very often via email) and had a quick tour of the warehouse and showroom. During this visit we were lucky enough to view some of the brand new ranges including the Copper range- inspired by none other than our very own Kaety!

The design and quality of Frost products sets it aside from others. The detail in manufacturing and time spent on developing designs is evident in every piece. After our short visit, we were given a special tour of Hans’ own home (which could also be called an unofficial Frost showroom) with its distinct Danish design flair and stunning details it was an absolute pleasure to see. We were then treated to a delicious Danish lunch in a quaint inn close to the headquarters.
At Candana we pride ourselves on not only choosing product that is of the highest quality, but that has a certain story behind it. Its about giving the customer a unique piece that will reflect their personality and we think Frost is a perfect example of that. We were so impressed by Frost and their extreme hospitality and hope to visit again soon.

After 4 whirlwind days, we had one night left in Copenhagen. A Danish-design themed trip is not complete without staying at THE Radisson Blu Royal hotel designed by Arne Jacobsen. If we weren’t excited enough about that, we were extremely lucky to be shown Suite 606- the only suite left in the hotel with the original Arne Jacobsen design. To say Kaety was excited is understatement, any designer knows that this is the epitome of mid-century design and to be able to spend a few minutes in there was truly unforgettable.

On that note, we wrap up the Denmark trip 2015. Thank you again to Vola & Frost for an amazing trip- we learnt a great deal. Feel free to visit the showroom for more info on any of the products mentioned.
