Another year, another colour trend prediction from Pantone. In previous years we saw popular colours such as Greenery (2017) and Rose Quartz (2016) blossom and really translate into the respective years trends and not too long ago (2014) we were presented Radiant Orchid, so it is quite interesting another purple hue has been chosen. Pantone’s Color Institute have given a great explanation and concept behind the colour selection:

Musical icons Prince, David Bowie, and Jimi Hendrix brought shades of Ultra Violet to the forefront of western pop culture as personal expressions of individuality. Nuanced and full of emotion, the depth of PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet symbolizes experimentation and non-conformity, spurring individuals to imagine their unique mark on the world, and push boundaries through creative outlets.
Historically, there has been a mystical or spiritual quality attached to Ultra Violet.
